Save 20% on Camping & Hiking Gear
Let’s start with your base for summer adventure: a tent. This coupon is a great opportunity to save on a big-ticket item like a three-season tent and then build your campsite gear setup from there. REI has a variety of brands to choose from, including its own.
REI Co-op Half Dome SL 3+ Tent With Footprint: $303 (20% Off)
The Half Dome SL 3+ is a three-season tent with a pre-bent pole frame, two D-shaped doors, and room for three people and their gear (or dog).
Our gear testers praised it for its versatility as a crossover for camping and backpacking. And that was before a design upgrade dropped more than a pound off its trail weight.
Want a smaller footprint? The Half Dome SL 2+ tent is marked down to $263 (20% off) for members.
Kelty Cosmic 20 Sleeping Bag — Men’s: From $128 (20% Off)
This is a three-season bag rated to 20 degrees Fahrenheit by way of its 550-fill-power duck down insulation. Kelty gave it a trapezoidal baffle construction as a way to trap heat.
It has a nylon outer shell for durability and polyester taffeta lining inside for a smoother feel. It comes with an internal zippered stash pocket to keep a phone warm and a headlamp within reach. The brand calls its dual-slide locking zippers “anti-snag.”
Attention side sleepers: This three-season mummy bag is made with you in mind. The Disco bags are shaped with cuts at the elbows and knees to allow for movement when sleeping on your side (or rolling over).
Inside, there’s 650-fill-power hydrophobic down insulation and even a nylon lining with a DWR finish. Note the brand’s Thermo Gills for venting body heat through the body of the bag rather than unzipping the side.
There’s also a draft collar and full-length draft tube to retain heat. Additionally, the bag has a waterproof-breathable footbox to ward off condensation if it gets too close to a tent wall.
Big Agnes Insulated Q-Core Deluxe Sleeping Pad: From $136 (20% Off)
If your adventures take you into alpine (or shoulder season) temperatures, this insulated sleeping pad may be right for you. It uses PrimaLoft Silver Insulation to reflect body heat back and gives the pad an R-value of 4.3, which puts it among those made for use in cold temperatures.
It’s made with a TPU lamination for weld strength, a quilted top, and a nylon double-ripstop bottom, which Big Agnes claims is quieter than other pad materials out there. Experienced backpackers may appreciate the high-volume valves, the inflation sack, and that it comes with a replacement valve and repair patches.
Exped MegaMat Duo 10 Sleeping Pad: From $264 (20% Off)
For those that like to share a sleeping pad, the MegaMat Duo is made to fit inside most two-person tents. This pad has an R-value of 8.1, which positions it for use in extremely cold conditions.
It uses a 3D construction to fill more evenly between the edges and reduce sagging in the middle. The surface fabric has a nonslip finish, it self-inflates most of the way, and it comes with a mini pump to top it off. One of the brand’s two FlatValves is larger for quicker deflation.
The smaller Exped MegaMat 10 is also on sale ($184).
Backpacks & Carriers
Osprey Talon 22 Pack — Men’s: $108 (20% Off)
Pack a hydration device, food, and extra layers in this 22L daypack. It features dual-zippered panel access to the main compartment, side compression straps, a large stretch mesh front panel pocket, and mesh side pockets.
You can stash lip balm or your favorite snack in the hipbelt’s zippered pockets.
The external hydration sleeve designates room for a reservoir, and there are trekking pole attachments on the side. Bikers, take note: There’s also a LidLock bike helmet attachment.
REI Co-op Trail 25 — Women’s: $64 (20% Off)
REI redesigned this pack with recycled materials in the body and lining fabric. Its foam is shaped to more closely fit women’s torsos.
For backpacking, the pack has a framesheet to give the pack stability and protect you from gear poking through.
Lastly, the pack comes with a hydration sleeve and port, a removable waist belt, a side mesh pocket, a zip pocket in the lid for valuables, and fasteners for trekking poles.
Osprey Poco Plus Child Carrier: $272 (20% Off)
The Poco is designed like a backpack and child-hauler. Osprey gave it an aluminum tubing frame and a 3D-tensioned mesh AirSpeed back panel for breathable coverage and dispersing weight across the pack. An external hydration sleeve fits up to a 1.5L reservoir.
This Plus version has a Fit-on-the-Fly adjustable hipbelt with extra storage (as does the main body) and a zippered compartment for stashing things like a diaper change kit. Similarly, it comes with a removable drool pad and cord attachment loops to keep toys and pacifiers close.
The built-in sunshade can keep harsh rays from burning up your most valuable cargo.
These Black Diamond trekking poles have natural cork grips to wick sweat and offer some cushion. The brand uses a 15-degree angle in its grips and updated the rubber grip extensions below.
Like many of its poles, these use a FlickLock system to make quick adjustments to the poles’ length. The poles come with interchangeable carbide Tech Tips, 38mm trekking baskets, and 100mm powder baskets
Arc’teryx positions the Atom LT as its most versatile insulated jacket thanks to updates to its Coreloft Compact 60 synthetic insulation for more durability and a new relaxed fit. The face fabric was also updated for greater abrasion resistance as well as protection from wind and moisture.
The jacket’s adjustable hood is insulated, and the jacket has several zippered pockets for stashing a phone or warming hands.
