Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday approved revised “scales of accommodation” for defence expert services with an aim to assure greater standards of residing and workspaces for the armed forces personnel.
The defence ministry claimed the implementation of scales of accommodation – 2022 would facilitate enhancement in services and infrastructure for the keep of the armed forces staff.
Officers said the new norms would offer for the generation of sustainable living and workspaces as the buildings will involve to aspect strength performance mechanisms, improved structural design, multi-level parking and h2o conservation systems among the others.
Under the new Scales of Lodging (SoA), the majority of junior commissioned officers (JCOs), as perfectly as other ranks (OR), are established to have motor vehicle garages.
As per existing norms, only officers are authorized to have auto garages.
“The implementation of Scales of Accommodation — 2022, would be huge enhancement inbuilt facilities/ infrastructure and specifications commensurate to modern demands,” the defence ministry mentioned.
The SoA defines the authorisation for the development of facilities for operational, useful, coaching, administrative, residing and recreation amenities for the defence expert services, according to the ministry.

It explained these scales are relevant for all a few defence products and services and the Indian Coast Guard.
The former SoA was accredited by the federal government in Oct 2009.
